WPN event: “Astronauts: Do You Have What It Takes?”

On the 27th November 2017, the Women in Physics Network (WPN) hosted Dr Suzie Imber, Associate Professor in Space Science from the University of Leicester, and winner of the BBC’s recent show “Astronauts: Do You Have What It Takes?”. Suzie talked about her research, the astronaut training she undertook, her experiences on the programme and her mountaineering adventures.

A mixture of stalls filled the foyer of the Physics building promoting the the great networks and societies that exist within the University.

WiSET hosted a stall at the event and showcased a series of postcards designed to highlight the inspirationa

l stories of women who have paved the way for present and future generations of women and girls in science, engineering, technology, maths and medicine. The stall was visited by university staff, members of the public and school children, all of whom enjoyed the evening’s activities and took away a postcard momento of the event.
