IEEE Women in Engineering International Leadership Summit 2018

A group of University of Southampton postgraduate students and researchers won the chance to host the 2018 Southampton IEEE Women in Engineering International Leadership Summit, which was the only one of its kind in Europe this year. This summit was a 3 day event, 13th – 15th August,  and focused on how to achieve inclusivity in diversity, designed in partnership with industry for those interested in the impact of lack of gender, ethnic and racial diversity on the profitability and success of organisations.

WiSET+ Chair, Dr Katrina Morgan, was invited to speak about her experience to success. WiSET+ also supported the event through bronze sponsorship of £500. The event was a resounding success, with international speakers including Prof. Ursula Gibson, the president elect of the Optical Society, Prof. Averil Macdonald, a member of the women’s Business council, and Prof. Bozenna PAsik-Duncan, the Global Chair of IEEE Women-in-Engineering.   A list of speakers can be found here http://sites.ieee.org/wieils-soton-2018/speakers/.
