In 2018, Women in Science, Engineering and Technology (WiSET) welcomed humanities and became WiSET+. To celebrate this, and the significant role women play in research and teaching at University of Southampton, WiSET+, working in partnership with John Hansard Gallery, Winchester School of Art and the intersectionalities: identities – politics – cultures research group (iPIC), invited creative responses to the theme ‘women in academia’.
The theme could be explored in any way and could be in any medium (painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, poetry, film, textiles, clay, digital etc.) of any size. Anyone could take part; any age or gender, and you do not have to work at the University of Southampton or be in an academic role to submit an entry.
Entries were exhibited at John Hansard Gallery (18th – 22nd June 19) and The Winchester Gallery at Winchester School of Art (25th – 28th June 19).
