Gender Pay Gap

10th November 2017 is equal pay day Addressing the gender pay gap is a priorty of the University identified in 2015, and incorporated into the objectives of the University's Athena SWAN silver charter submission. What does it mean? UK Equal Pay day marks the gender pay gap. From now on through the rest of the calendar year - the pay gap means that women are working for free. Continue reading →

Ada Lovelace Day Celebrations

To promote this special day and increase the profile of women across the University, the Women in Science, Engineering and Technology (WiSET) group spent the summer collecting selfie photos of our academic and research women across all faculties to create a mosaic collage of Ishbel Campbell (1906-1997). Ishbel was one of the founding academics of the University of Southampton, a reader in Chemistry as well as a committed teacher and inspiration for women in science. The WiSET Annual Award is a new scheme to recognise and celebrate individuals (men and women, staff and students) in the University of Southampton who make an outstanding contribution to supporting women in academia. Parent’s and Carers’/ WiSET speakers panel event

The Parents’ and Carers' Network and Women in Science, Engineering and Technology (WiSET) equality and diversity event was held on Tuesday 15th March 2016 to celebrate International Women's Day 2016. A panel of significant and inspiring speakers, including our Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sir Christopher Snowden shared their thought provoking ambitions, experiences and challenges relating to equality and diversity during their careers.
