Nominations are now open for the annual WiSET+ awards. These awards reward and recognise exceptional contributions of individuals (students and academic, technical and managerial staff) across the university who have worked to raise the profile and participation of women in STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Medicine, and Mathematics) either at the University of Southampton or in the community. They are awarded to those who have made an outstanding contribution to outreach or supporting women in academia, above and beyond the requirements of their formal role.
We know that there are many such champions throughout the university and we encourage you to make your nominations, via the following link. Recipients of the WiSET+ award receive a WiSET+ award trophy and a cash prize presented at the WiSET+ Creativity Competition Exhibition, Summer 2019.
It is widely accepted that women are under represented in acadmia at all levels: as students, and in academic, technical, and managerial roles. WiSET+ is a University of Southampton action group which provides a forum for women academics and staff to work constructively to make changes, in our everyday experiences, and in the recognition and participation of women in the university community.
The annual awards were inaugurated in 2016 to recognise and reward exceptional contributions of individuals who have worked to raise the profile and participation of women in STEMM or in any way that constructively addresses gender disparity across the university.
The awards are open to all staff or students at the University of Southampton, irrespective of their gender, mode of study or nature of their employment.
If you have any questions or would like further information about the competition or WiSET+ please email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
